I tried without success to solve the following problem:
I use Lightroom 2 and a hardware calibrated (spyder 3 pro) monitor for image processing. I use a processing lab (Costco) to get prints made.
This was and still is a gamble, even now with a properly profiled monitor, and finished prints look always different from the screen.
Now, the lab I am using for processing has profiles for all printer and paper combinations available that can be downloaded with instructions how to use them in a photoshop based workflow (drycreek.com). If there is a way to get prints that at least resemble what I see on my screen than this should do it. Problem: I don't use photoshop, and I cant' imagine that there is no way not to get the same out of lightroom.
The only instructions how to use such printer profiles in LR refer to the print module and how to use them printing directly out of lightroom on a photoprinter.
Is there a way to generate jpg or tif files in lightroom that use the appropriate printer profile and would be therefore more suitable to upload them to the processing lab?
Any advice is much appreciated and would save me some nerves and time.
the best way is to get the printer profile they are using and install it, then to print to a file using that profile in LR and save it as your tiff or whatever and then the printer profile is applied :) it works great
Thanks, that's the kind of workflow description that I was looking for. I will give it a try and see how the prints compare to what I have on the screen.
