Since we've had so much snow in Jersey this winter, I seem to have an abundance of bird feeder shots. I thought I would play with this one and go in a different direction. The plugin used here is "Aetherize" from Flaming Pear. I did a seperate layer for the filter and then masked the eye. I also dropped the filter layer opacity to 80%. This filter will allow anywhere from minimal (as shown here) to a psychedelic version, it's pretty cool. I seem to be going through a minimal phase :confused:. Do you think I should add some canvas to the right? As always your thoughts are valuable to me.

Very nice, Dave. I like the pose and the soft, high-key look. A little more canvas on the right might be nice.

Ditto on adding canvas..nice high key image..with a different head angle this would be a killer..

Dave, I'm fine with the canvas-maybe just a hint more clarity on a few of the feathers. Nice looking image and the high key BG is a nice touch.

Like it as presented, might sharpen the eye a bit. Just a thought. Very nice effect on your past two pictures.

Dave, I like it just the way it is. I think maybe less sharpness of the legs and branch (or a little softer) might work also. It's a beautiful bird. I never have them at my house.:)

Love the delicate touch with Aetherize, Dave. And the soft muted coloring is beautiful. Great composition with the diagonlals:) K

I like it the way it is presented, and like the minimal look you have acheived with your softness and white background. I too would like to portray the same look. However, it is not as easy with tree bird backgrounds as beach & sky backgrounds.

Wow, lots of good thoughts here, and I appreciate them all. I'll experiment with some of the suggestions before I post him to my website, but I think I'm kinda close. Gus, I fastened the small branch to a post close to my feeder in a position where I can shoot out my window with a decent backround. The birds seem to like to land on the branch first when arriving or leaving the feeder giving the opportunity to grab a few clear shots.
