    Ken:

Nice colors here, generally well exposed, just a bit hot on the whites of the leg. Good head angle.
Wish I could see a bit more of the tail. You do have a better than average shooting angle for a raptor.

The eye doesn't quite look critically sharp on my monitor, and might benefit from a bit more sharpening.

    Cheers

    Hi Ken,

Very nice capture. There's something about evergreen branches in bird photos that I always find adds a lot to the shot. I like how the bird seems to be looking at something. I agree with Randy--the eye isn't quite sharp on my monitor either. Still a nice shot overall, though!

A nice profile shot of this hawk.
If mine I might add a bit of room on left for tail feathers and run some nr on blue sky.
I also like the intense stare and nice ha.

Ken, In a perfect world we could rotate the sun to shine more from behind you on this picture. Contrast seems a little strong.
Do not take this wrong -I like the picture (head angle and habitat that you included.)

Agree about the good head angle etc. To me the sky looks a bit pixellated above and to the right of the head, and the shadow on the back and breast are a bit deep. The whole bird looks as if it could use a little bit of sharpening. Is this any better?

    Hi Ken,

I used PS Elements 6. I selected the sky and used the color picker and paint bucket to color it uniformly and remove the pixellations. Then I selected the bird and used the shadows/ highlight tool to adjust those. Then I used Adjust Sharpening -> Remove lens blur till it looked about right. Then I used Save for Web, chosing to optimize the image for 190k. Took me about a minute!

    Richard
