    Hi Folks.

Caught this guy in our garden this morning, and thought he might look good as a colored sketch.

I created the sketch using AKVIS Graphics Tools, and if you would like to see the photo I used to sketch from and the proceedure I used, Click Here

Gus, I love this. The BG colors and the sketch look come together nicely. I might smooth out the BG around the head area a bit. Very nicely done.:)

    You're right on the mark.

I opened sketch in CS4, Color picked 2 blues for BG & FG from original
Opened New, size of original 535 x 800 px,
    Clicked Filter>Render>Clouds
    BG saved as WPBG.jpg
Pressed V (Move), holding down shift (To cover BG exactly) and moved original over BG
Used BG Eraser, Opacity 64, and clicked around bird edges. Then used Eraser, Opacity 100 to clean up left overs
Gave one pass of Curves Linear Contrast default
    Made Sig
Another pass of curves Linear Contrast default to freshen up lost bloom when redo done
First saved as PSD so I can make changes if need be
Then File>Save for Web & Devices
    Adjust to BPN limits
    Save as JPG
Took no more than 10 minutes

    Keep smiling

Just to give you a preference with slightly more sketching strokes I gave it a pass through Curves at default Medium Contrast & added 1px black border.

Which one of 3 do you like?

    Gus,

Greetings. I like the sketch effect and the overall composition. Prefer the first one, though, for the color. The second and third have a pattern off the back of the bird and mask-feathering spot interrupting the graphic look (on the tree directly opposite the beak).

I like the look & processing.

    Cheers,

    -Michael-

Lovely sketch effect, Gus. I like the first one for the colors but agree that the mask is a bit too 'hard.' Your reposts corrected that nicely.

Gus, I like #2. However the BG color of the first one is very nice.
