I've been in Florida this week with Doug Brown and Jim Neiger. We were able to photograph an almost fledging eagle with both the adults. It has been a wonderful time and both Doug and Jim have helped me tremendously with using manual exposure! Thank you guys! :)
    C & C appreciated.....

Hi Kristin.....Took Jim Neigers worshop myself few months back so I think I know exactly the nest you were at. I like your shot! I would probably brighten up the eye and beak a bit. Maybe take a little off the bottom. Nice work!

Hi Kristin - love these guys - looks just a tad dark on my screen - might set a black and white point and see what happens from there.
I might crop a little from the LHS to remove the larger trunk in the corner.
    Like it!!

Excellent image Kristin Exposure is right one .... how could it not be :) Your in great company !!!!!

I like the slight crop suggestion and would like to see a less steep angle but that is they place nests are made !! At times you can back up and use a longer lens with converter to flatten the perspective !!

Jeff, I set my meter to neutral off some brownish grass under the tree where the nest was located then underexposed by 1/3.

    Hi Kristen,

I think your shot is nice and crisp, but slightly underexposed, and the color is off. There is too much green, and this shows up mostly on the beak. Where I live (Olympic Peninsula, WA), Eagles are as common as crows right now, but sunshine is a rare commodity. It was sunny yesterday, so I took 100s of eagle shots, and have a fairly good idea of how they look through the viewfinder (unless Florida eagles are a different color).

I tried increasing the brightness, and subtracting green in curves. See what you think. I tried to post an eagle shot in this forum which looks accurate on my monitor, but it will not let me post another. Maybe tomorrow.

Thank you Hal for your suggestions and the re-post. I decided to rework the image and this is what I came up with.
