Default Bald Eagle with Prey in Flight

    Osceola County, FL - 1D4, 300mm+1.4xTC, hand held, 1/2000, F7.1, ISO 800, manual exposure

I spent the last couple days with Doug Brown and Kristin Wilkinson. Here is an image from our shoot this afternoon at the local Bald Eagle nest. I'm not sure what the prey is, but it appears to be a medium sized mammal of some sort. If you can identify it, please post the id.

Oh No! Mr Biggles is lunch!

I'm thinking red/gray fox pup...possibly a coyote pup. Their tails don't get bushy until they're older.

Great photo..love the detail in the underwing area.

Really pretty light under his wings. I like the pose and the color of the sky.

Maybe he caught someones ferret that got loose.

I think Dave S. has a point...that tail does look really feline, and the legs don't look right for a canid.

Excellent capture. Perfect exposure and fine details. It looks a little like Mr Kitty to me.

Oh man... This is sweet. I have no idea what the prey is (was), but the overall image just makes you stop and want to look for a long time. :)

Just great, the HA and looks on the bird, the prey adds a lot.
The sky BG is fantastic here, I think many flight images are ruined by
pale and dull BG sky. This one is quite the opposite.

    Love the entire image Jim.

Prey looks like a weasel to me.

Jim, you flight shots are always stunning and this is no exception.
Wonderful details in the dark feathers, great wing pose, beautiful light.
    And the prey is fantastic!
