    Default Godwit Battle

    Hi

Late last spring I was fortunate to have two Black-tail godwits go into a full but short dispute right in front of me. I managed to catch nearly the whole battle sequence of which this is one. The contest finished when the bird on the right managed to fully submerge the one on the left by standing on top of it.

    Hi Rich,
What an experience that must have been to see. Your timing was perfect as well as nicely framed with excellent exposure and beautiful detail. The only thing I could wish for in this image would be a little more light on the head of the bird in the air but with the wing blocking the light that was not possible and you did an awesome job with this one. Thanks so much for shaaring.

Thanks for your comments. It was a memorable experience and one I hope to see again in a couple of months.

If you want to see how the battle progressed there are more shots from the sequence on my Blog. If you go to the April 2007 archive and scroll down to the 18th April you will see the loser was well and truely squashed!!

    Cheers

    Rich
