Barbara, Great idea and effect. I like the colors and would only suggest that the flowers on the top left edge be evicted. Are the flowers Alstroemeria?

    Hi Barbara,
I actually prefer the original - which I think is very pretty - as I think that the image is better balanced with flowers in.
    Best,

Barbara, I think it looks better. Sometimes a tiny bit on the edge looks clipped. I do love the effect you created here-way to think OOTB!!!;)

Barbara, I like the repost better also. How exactly did you do this? Can you give us more detail? Were the flowers real and pressed - is that what you're saying? And the greenery - what is that? This is so interesting - I really want to try it!

Very cool Barbara. Wouldn't mind trying this effect. Looks like an oil painting.

Thanks everyone! Jules: Basically, I have several pieces of 12 x 12" glass - which can often be purchased as 'samples' from a glass store. You want a small, but not overly busy pattern, similar to shower door glass or something similar. I set up the flower arrangement (greenery and all, after picking a small grouping) and the macro lens (tripod mounted) and then figured out 2 things: 1) how far do I want the glass from the flowers? 2) How far do I want the lens from the glass? Both are important considerations because they determine how 'impressionistic' your image will be. If the flowers touch the glass you'll have more detail. You can hold the glass supported at the height you want. Making a wooden base with a cut out slit would be an advantage.

When you go glass shopping, take at least an artificial flower with you so you can see the effect before buying a piece of glass.

    Hope this helps some!

Barbara, this is a really nice treatment. I've seen this done before and it really creates a beautifully impressionistic image. Thanks for the steps.:)

Thank you all. Stuart this was just natural window light. Flash would not be recommended due to the glass. Now, let's see some textured glass images!

Barbara, this is very well done and a great example of abstracts done without software. Love it!
