Default Abstract - Old Man in a Palm Tree

This image was taken at Merritt Island NWR. It is an image Palm Tree Trunk, which was a subject that fascinated me one day, on a less than fruitful run through Black Point Road. I noted when processing the image for another abstract submission, that there appeared to be an image in the trunk. I have cropped the original area to isolate the “Old Man in the Palm Tree”. The right eye is very clear to me, and the left eye appears to be closed, as the “eyelash” is covering the area. The crooked bluish nose is above the mustache and mouth area, which is also visible. Hope you can see it, as I did!

Modification included; Cropping, Poster Edge, Dry Brush, Cutout and Hue & Saturation adjustment.

    Enjoy!

Very nice abstract Mark-One of your best. :) I like the colors and the face within the image-nicely seen and nice job combining the filters.

I've attached a copy of the cropped image, prior to processing and a copy of the original image as shot, to let you see what I saw. ;) Now do you see it right away? ;)

If a person looks at it, it's quite easy to see! Thanks for sharing, Mark! Kinda like not seeing the forest for the trees, or trees for the forest, or whatever!!! Kinda like Ws, Fool me once, shame on......!

Excellent abstract, Mark and the perfect technique to bring it out! I sometimes wonder if only photographers see things like this when we're out walking around? The world is a magical place if you just look closely enough!

I really like the intensity of the colors in this as well - very deep and soulful.

Mark, I think this is my new favorite:) It reminds me of the Old man in the sea. Beautifully seen and rendered.

Jules, agree that photographers develop a special vision over time. I have found over the years, since taking up photography to the next level, that the world is quite different for me. I have a new vision and also note many things that others miss, by not concentrating their vision within the view of the lens. It brings a new perspective on all that one see in the world, in my view. Makes life more enjoyable in many areas, not just nature and the outdoors.

Mark, did you get a model release? ;) I saw the old man right off, but thanks for inverting him! i might noy have seen it upside-down. Lots of interesting textures and features to take in. Nicely done!

Thanks for viewing and comments, Kerry. Appreciate them.

No... Like the Egret and AG they are public property! ;)

You all do have an advantage in seeing him, as I had to look at the whole tree to find him. I didn't take a shot from further back, to show the trunk, so he was highlighted even with the inversion. ;) But glad I found him, he''s been a fun addition to the weeks activities.
