    Image taken in Arizona, late Feb, very near Sierra Vista..just couldn't get binoculars on one of these birds close..this is taken with 300mm and 1.7 tc, extreme crop.
    I am terrible with some sparrows.
    I have no ideas at all, but I think its a sparrow.
    This is only time I had this bird stay out of the grasses...tried for 1 hour.

    Hey Paul,

    At first glance makes me think Vesper Sparriw.

    Hi Paul. I would go with Vesper also. The presence of a rufous shoulder combined with the streaky, contrasty face seems to rule out Rufous-winged.

    Thanks Guys..I thought maybe a rufous-winged...Vesper seems like a hit
