Photographed this warbler at Humboldt Bay National Wildlife Refuge in Northern California on February 27th. Habitat was willows beside tidal marshland. it was roughly 4-5 feet off of the ground. I'm not usually very good at ID in g warblers as they are all too blasted similar to me. My first guess was an Audubon's Warbler but now I'm changing that to a Yellow Rumped. Help with the ID would be appreciated.
Actually, you are right on both counts. "Audubon's" is simply the yellow-throated and purely western subspecies of Yellow-rumped Warbler. "Myrtle" also occurs in winter in some areas of the western U.S., but Audubon's is a vagrant to the eastern U.S. There are also two subspecies endemic to central America.
