I'm finally getting around to processing more of my images from the Southwest. This image was photographed with my Canon 5D MK II handheld while bracing against a wall. We were out of time and didn't have time to set up my tripod. ISO 3200, f/8.0, 1/15 sec, EF24-70mm f/2.8L USM, 34mm, Evaluative Metering, Auto Exposure, Auto WB, No Flash. Comments Welcome.

Hi Richard.....I like this alot. It flows diagonally across the frame for a nice composition. Love the light and color....You might consider toning down the bright red in the upper right just a bit...but maybe thats just me

Richard, I like the colors, textures, and the flowing lines. I'm kind of distracted by the black areas at the top.

    Hi Richard

Agree on the lighter upper right, does not blend with the rest of the image and even the texture is different. Rather than darken might must crop that area and adjust top and bottom for proportion !!

Will turn out just fine any way you slice it, great going to the higher ISO which gave you a reasonable shutter speed for the focal length !!

Canyon X is a fun place. Good sharpness for that shutter speed hand held!

Hi Richard, I love the slots which gives a photographer many opportunities for getting interesting images of light and texture. You captured a nice area with good lighting and color. After studying the image I thought I would present another view of it. I did a few things. First I filled in the small sliver of black on the upper right and mildly darkened the red area. I felt the two black areas on the top was pulling my eye away from the rest of the comp and I wanted to see if there was any information there and I found some. IMO the detail softens the areas that were drawing my eye. I selected the areas and used S/H to bring out the detail....

Richard - A lovely image as presented, and Dave's repost makes it even better. Both have beautiful composition, colors and detail. Excellent. Have to go there.

Great use of shadows to gain texture and tonality. Love them both but favor the OP.
