This is my first post. I used the Canon 20D, Canon 300 f4 L IS lens. Settings: program mode, 1/1000, f/8 ISO 400. Photographed in Etosha National Park in Namibia from the car (one is not allowed to get out of the car as it is too dangerous). I wanted a dramatic portrait without any distracting background. I look forward to all comments and instruction. Thank you.

Great picture the only comment would be a catch light in the eyes or a slight lighting of the eyes

this is actually the black-nosed impala, a subspecies found only in Namibia!
for me the modified BG is too obvious, with some hard edges around the antelope. the buck could also be sharper than presented. welcome here and keep them coming!!

Here is a change. I blurred the original background, tried to soften the edges and lighten the eyes. A totally different look.

Welcome to BPN Nancy. Your repost looks good. The BG is more natural. Lovely sharp detail on the impala too.

The repost is much better, I thought it was called a Black Faced Impala, and it is found in Namibia and Angola.

Welcome Nancy, the repost is much preferred with the much more natural BG, could still do with some more USM.

Welcome, Love the repost. Nice detail and pose. You could crop a bit from the LHS for my taste. Fine image. TFS

    Nancy,
Welcome to BPN. The repost is better. Would like to see the original vegetation in the background, if it is not too distracting. Look forward to more.

    Cheers,

    Welcome Nancy,

Another vote for the repost. I might also crop a little off the bottom to lose the tops of the legs and some off the LHS to move a great subject off centre.

Love the repost . The impala looks grand in this one. The light is great and the sharpness awesome.
