    Red-winged Blackbird

    Workshop: Roma, South Texas.

    D3, 600, ISO 1600, f8, 1/4000, Fill@ -1.0

Shot this yesterday as a group of Blackbirds paid our feeders a visit.
I manually pre-focused on a perch next to the feeder, then raised the lens up a bit to capture them as they came in to land.
The detail in the blacks may not show in this small JPEG.

Love the coming to you pose with down the barrel look, the wing span and the ready to land legs. Also like how you manage to get the reds on the wing as well. Cannot see the details in black as you mentioned, especially on the breast. Thanks for the tip on focusing technique :)

Cool pose, BG and soft light, I particularly like the dangling feet. The reds look partially overexposed.
