While I was at Merritt Island NWR, I wanted to take some scenics so I was using my D300 with my 18-105 lens when this flight of bird occurred. I have 2 pictures and decide which one is best please give me your opinions as to #1 or # 2. The Rosette spoonbill adds color to what was a dreary morning

I think you are only suppose to post one. Either way this would be stronger if they were coming at you instead of fleeing.

Myer: My vote is for #1. The ibis and spoonbill all have their wings in more or less the same position, the spoonbill's color show best (especially the orange on the tail), and I like the vegetation in the foreground that, for me, gives a sense of place.

Thanks to you both. I like the birds separation in #2 but agree the spoonbill is better in #1. As for the direction that was the way they were going. I was initially looking in the opposite direction and was happy to capture these images

    Hi Myer,
I like no 2. For me the proportions of the picture are better and there is more of a sense of space.
    Best,
    Nicki
