Default Wanted to say thanks for all that I have learned

I wanted to say thanks to Mr Morris for hosting this site and the many people that post here and who I have learned a great deal from.

Here is a photo that I took at the Cincinnati Zoo. As you can see I clipped the penguins beak and didn't leave enough room at the top of the image. Normally I would have to trash this image but I have seen some others here fix images like this. So I thought I would give it a try. I added a little room at the top of the image and used the clone tool to fix the beak. To cover my tracks with the clone tool I used the blur tool to blur out the background more and hide the clone marks.

    Original image

    "Fixed" image.

Thanks for looking and any more tips or help with this image would be greatly appreciated.

    Bob

Look like a clean job to me, nicely done. Love the color and the feather details. Might also try to lighten the eye a bit, help the viewer locate the eye quicker amongst the black feather.

    Welcome to BPN!!!

Agree the fix looks good and also would lighten the eye. The colors in the original look a little crisper to me.

Hi Bob - a big warm welcome to the BPN Family - Nice work on the Bill repair.
IMHO - the repost just needs a tad more contrast - difficult to get the eye on these guys - might try sharpening the eye only just a little.
Colours look good and have come up with a not bad BG for a zoo.
Looking forward to seeing more :)

    Thanks guys!

After fixing the image I thought my original PP was too dark so I lightened it up a little. I need to go back and add some contrast and see if that will fix it. Although it doesn't look as bad on my computer as it does on here.

During the month of February they let this guys out of there pin and walk around for about 10 or 15 minutes. So you can get some shots of them outside of their pin with better backgrounds.

    Thanks again

    Bob

Hi Bob Big Warm Welcome and great first post !!! .... appreciate the kind words.

Btw If you want to re post an image try it in a different post and the thumbnail will show on the first. Anytime we have two there won't be one !!! Re posts are fine and help us all !!!

You did well in PS, agree with comments that the first looks best as far as the feathers, just lighten the eye a bit !!

Nice clone technique. I wouldn't have picked it had you not mentioned it.
