I found this pic of red-billed queleas very challenging. Both in camera (DOF vs speed, focus point) and in Photoshop (relative lighting, contrast similar bird vs background colours). So in summary, keen to hear lots of suggestions as to how to improve!

cool looking birds!! i've never done this, but seen al teach the method. boost the iso up a lot. stop way down. and fire away!!! al can elaborate more i hope!!!! in photos like this, best to have clean frame edges. the hanging feet on the top look out of place. better to include all of a subject.

I think the two OOF flying birds in the middle kind of distract. I never photograph a flock of birds before so can't help you much. I do like the side lighting in this picture and how it cast a horizon shadow on the sand in is picture, but side lighting make it hard for exposure since part of the bird is lit up and part is in shadow.

Hi - Agree with Harold - some more DOF required here. And need to clean up the cut off birds around the edge of the frame in PP.
Another option with this sort of scene is to try for a BLUR - either a ND400 filter or much later in the day when the light is more to your advantage.
    Keep em coming :)

    Hi Gordon

Nice group of birds, must have been fun watching !!! For these just take lots of them and choose later. Have had better luck with the birds further away since dof increases I love the suggestions of going slow for a blur but generally you can't anticipate !!!

Not much you can do here with the center so oof but can crop the partial birds on top as suggested !!!
