    Default PDF readers: critical update

Just in case you haven't heard, over the last year on the order of 80% of attacks were via pdf files exploiting a weakness in pdfs and adobe pdf readers. Adobe came out with a major update to fix those weaknesses in the last week. So update your adobe pdf reader before reading any pdfs. If you have adobe products, you likely have adobe updater. If so start the update and it will update all your adobe products. If you only have a reader, start it and check for updates (under the help menu).

I only use Preview on my Macs and hope this program doesn't have these issues.

Roger, thanks. I had just received an update notice and did the update right before checking into BPN. It's nice to know that fellow members are looking out for all of us.

I don't know why anyone would continue to use Adobe Reader for basic PDF viewing; it's bloated, loads slowly, and lacks several useful features. There are several far superior free products out there. I use FoxIt Reader, which is faster and allows for tabbed viewing of multiple PDF documents. I've never once missed Adobe Reader since I made that switch a couple of years ago.
