    Default Snow bird.

    D90; 80-400 VR @ 370mm. ISO 800. f/7.1 @ 1/1000s. Matrix metering @ +0.7 EV. Taken as vertical; cropped to horizontal and 25% off width.

Another in the backyard bird series. As their name, Dark-eyed Junco, suggests, I've sometimes had trouble getting their dark eyes to show clearly in their dark heads. I think the soft light during yesterday morning's snowstorm helped to bring out the gradations of brown and gray. Question: would this be better without the OOF needles on the left? C&C appreciated.

Not sure if it'd bebetter but if I were to remover that, I would also crop tighter around the bird.

HI Bill....I vote for leaving the needles on the left in. I think they help bring my eye back around to the bird....otherwise the tail sends my eye out of the frame. Just my opinion!

Bill, I love the light when it is snowing. The junco is well-exposed with good detail in the perch. I agree that the OOF needles should go.:)

A nice visible eye you have on the bird, the black details are nice too. I would remove the two needles on the left but left the snow in, as it helps framing my eye back to the bird.

Another vote to remove Bill. Great capture, love the contrast between the bird and the snow.
