    Default Jay

    Hi

Here i another photo from my recent attempts to capture flying Jays. This is a bird leaving the feeding area with a crop and beak full of peanuts to go and find and place to bury them. This is one useful part of the Jay behaviour as they will constantly fly backwards and forwards to a feeding area to collect nuts to take away and bury. They usually do this with acorns. Now I have them feeding with confidence I hope to shift over to feeding acorns towards the end of this year to get some more natural looking images.

    Taken with 1DmkIV with 500mm at ISO1000 and F7.1

    Cheers

    Hi Rich,
This looks really good to me. I love the central position of the bird in the frame - it enables us to see the full beauty of the jay's plumage - and I love the perfect positioning of the peanuts! BG is lovely. Very well done.
    Best,

Great flight posture Rich, and sharp where it counts. Love the inclusion of the berries in the beak. ( what was your ss? )

A great species to get in such good detail. Great eye contact, too. If you get one with an acorn it will be a killer.

    Congrats,

You certainly nailed this one Rich, I have been trying to do something very similar from my hide but to date the only visitor to the peanuts has been a chaffinch and the inevitable squirrel!
