Today was my first time in the field with these guys and they are a treat to photograph I had a smile on my face the whole morning:D
Did not have enough DOF to get the wing sharp but I still like the pose anyway.

40D, 500 f/4 IS + 1.4 TC, 1/125 at f/8, Aperture Priority, Evaluative Metered +1 2/3, ISO 400, RAw, Tripod Cropped from Horizontal and a small amount of cloning on some OOF grass

Don, it is a great pose, the head is sharp, and you have a nice BG. How nice for you to be able to see and photograph these birds. What a treat!:)

    Hi Don,
What a treat to see these cuties doing something other than sitting still...:)
I love the moment that you have captured and the eye contact takes it over the top.
    Best,
    Nicki

Hi Don, you hit all the right notes and I would be smiling, too. I really like the ballerina pose; it differentiates it very nicely.

Excellent capture, I would love to have a chance to photograph one of these birds someday. Great detail and perfect pose.

Nicely done, Don. I like your dof and the effect that it gave you on the wing.

Don, lovely ballerina pose, and I like the light in this. Sharp with good eye contact, and pops from the BG nicely. I would maybe tone down the rock a little.

The wing not being perfectly in focus desn't bother me at all, in fact I like the feeling of movement.
    Great image!

Would like to see the image cropped further. Very pleasing light and the OOF wing allows for a sense of depth in the bird. Did you use flash here?
