Yet another GBH post. This one from Gatorland also. I chose this one to post because of the dramatic contrast between the front lit bird and the dark blue/black BG. Stats: Nikon D300, 70-300VR @ 112mm, f/8, 1/500 manual mode, ISO 200. All settings as shot plus high pass selective sharpening. I clipped the tip of his tail when shooting so I had to clone it back in PS using another image of the same bird (also, the vertical strip on the right hand side). Anyone notice? Thanks for all comments and thanks Mike for your hospitality.

    David:

A striking image for the reasons mentioned. Generally dappled lighting doesn't work terribly well, but it is effective here.

I wish the shooting angle was lower, but that probably wasn't possible where you were, and it would def. be a different looking image, and perhaps lose the effect you were after.

    Nice breeding colors.

    Cheers

Hi David, I really like the dramatic light and the way the GBH stands out against the BG. I do wish you could have gotten a better angle on him thou.

    Hi David,
I too like the dramatic lighting - the angle of capture doesn't really bother me as for me the image is more about the dramatic contrast and interesting colours.

Very striking image and it has a artsy feeling to me. Really like it as presented.

Stunning! The light and contrasts are absolutely superb here, well done! It's got both the feeling of being in the forest as well as a marsh at the same time, and with a unique top down perspective. Love it!

I do like the angle here, it's something different from the usual.
Love how the bird pops out. Great PP work, I must learn how to do that...

Nice moody image here David. Great job on the tail, never would have noticed... and still don't. :)

Was a pleasure having you out to the park.
