This was quite a large crop anyway, taken at 400mm at 5.62M. distance, but I wanted to leave some of the flowers in on the right. Normally I wouldn't leave a left-facing bird towards the left side of the image, but I think this works reasonably OK. Any other comments or suggestions welcome.

Image taken in the garden of a hotel we stayed at on our recent trip, Jodhpur, Rajasthan, India.

    D300, 80-400, hand-held. ISO 640, 1/320, f/7.1, +2/3EV, no flash.

Hi Richard For including the flowers on the right I would like the bird looking in that direction, sort of interacting with the flowers.

.... was wondering how you got some sunshine and that bird .. then read location :)

Beautiful bird, well captured. I think your point about the flowers is well taken, and I don't mind the placement of the bird. It sets up a nice diagonal composition, and the BG is really lovely. Large crop shows in IQ, but you take what you can get.

Hi Richard....I like the shot....esp the background....bird facing the left works for me. Only a softer light would improve the image

Hi Richard - agree with the point about softer light - composition is different - AL'S point is good. Composition doesn't quite come together for me, my eyes wander to the flowers on the left and then out of the frame.
    BG compliments the bird nicely.
    Keep em coming :)
