Image shot at Blowing Rocks Nature Conservancy, on Jupiter Island, Florida. The coming together of the sea with the rocks on the shoreline providing a release of energy that is uplifting and can be devastating. The roar of the pounding surf and the vision of the breaking waters is always personally inspirational to the soul.
Modifications in PS4 included; Accent Edges, Cut Out, Watercolor, Paint Daubs and Dry Brush.
Neat image, Mark. I really like the effect this had on the water but wonder if a bit more detail is needed around the rocks in the FG? The polar opposites of the dark blue in the URC against the bright white near the LLC really gives this some nice bang for the buck. I find myself looking all through this as I go back and forth between the two areas.
I love the way your use of the filters have simplified this image to the important elements - the waves crashing on the rocks. The energy and motion really comes through loud and clear.
I spent time on vacation recently just watching the waves, and I know the experience you speak of. It's like a spiritual moment. There's a nice balance here with color and composition. It inspires me to try some artsy stuff with my wave shots!
Mark, I like the effect and this is a really interesting look. I wish the FG rock was a bit more in the image so that the image would be divided into 3 equal parts. Rock/breaking water / calm water.Nicely done. This would make a nice series.
Thanks all for viewing and commnts. Appreciate it.
Understand the love of the rule of 1/3rds Denise, but as noted by others including Artie, it is just a rule. To me the composition is the diagonals of the rocks, crashing wave and the waves behind. To put it into 1/3rds, in my view, would distroy the vision of the image. Likewise, no part is more than the whole, so detail is less important than the composition of the force of nature.
Appreciate your comments however, that is what makes it interesting. Each of us have different visions and different reasons for those visions.
I'll get back to using the rule of thirds, in future posts! ;) :D You can count on it! :D
As I type this, there is a Tsunami heading for Hawaii, from the 8.8 quake in Chile. We can only hope the wave only crashes as shown here. Not that nature shows her full force in both Chile and Hawaii.
