I am thinking of a new printer - a 3880. One option for an extra $200 is below. Can anyone tell me why I might one to spend the $200? I have a Mac so if I do not buy it I am not sure what I would print through PS?

I assume you are a photographer and don't do graphic arts where having actuate Pantone colors would be of benefit. And you won't be doing really large prints because the 3800 can't print on roll paper. If this is the case then I'd recommend Qimage Studio. http://www.ddisoftware.com/qimage/
I've used Qimage for a number of years with great results. I do ALL my color printing on my Epson 4800 using Qimage. An added benefit is that Qimage Studio costs only $89.95. It also has one of the best sharpening routines around.
I used to use Qimage when I had both my Mac and a PC hooked up with a switch to share the keyboard and monitor. The printer was hooked to the PC. I did all my work on the Mac and then sent files over the network to the pc to print.
I just use my Mac now. I could buy Parallels to use run Qimage, but I would like to avoid that and use native Mac software. I know, there is no program like Qimage for Mac (unless one wants to buy a RIP that costs $800 or more). That is why I thought of hte option from Epson where you just pay $200 for the limited RIP.
