    Default Barred Owl

    Canon 7D + 100-400L @150mm
    1/400, f/7.1, ISO 400

This owl let my photograph him from about 15' for about an hour. He really seemed unaffected by my presence. Really a wonderful experience photographing him.

My usual tendency is to zoom in a lot to get as much detail as I can. I have a good set of shots like that of this bird. But I wanted to also take some wider, environment shots which I often neglect to do. Here's one.

    C&C welcome. Thanks

I like that he's facing the light. Beautiful bird.

The owl is too centered for my tastes -- crop some off the left would take him off center.

Great image James! I like the inclusion of the environment in this image.

What absolutely wonderful light here James! While you say you zoomed out for this one, I could see even more environment working well too.
