Default File Synching Software for PC

I would like advice choosing software that will analyze data (images) on external drive A and synch it to external drive B, allowing me to make edits (deletions) then resync to external B.
Or advice on how you find best to do backups of your images between 2 drives.
    Thanks

Hi Cynthia. I have recently started using Memeo Sync. It seems to work very nicely and does what I think you want. I have lets say "birds" on drive A and "birds" on drive B, once you have setup the sync plan, the program automaticely adds, deletes, changes file/folder names and changes XMP data in drive B that I changed in drive A. You can "verify" the sync from time to time if you don't think that it worked by clicking on "verify sync". I am still checking manually also:). The program was included in my WD drive as a trial and ultimately cost about $40.

A warning, If you have been doing the syncing and backing up manually, be very sure that your folder names are exact from one drive to the other. If not, when you setup your sync plans, the program will duplicate the folders in both drives, doubling the space usage! For example, I had a folder named "N Hawk Owl" on drive A and "Northern Hawk Owl" on drive B before I setup my "birds" sync plan. The program added "N Hawk Owl" and "Northern Hawk Owl" to both drives! The folder names must be EXACT!! same use of spaces, underscores, etc! Good luck.

    Thanks Dan,
Was wondering if anyone here uses Synctoy and if it's reliable as it's a free download from Microsoft

I use GoodSync and like it very much. I back up everything, every day, to two separate hard drives, and it usually takes less than a minute.

I've been using SyncToy for a couple of years. It works and the price is right.
