    Default Fast Landing

I feel that this image shows how fast the Eagles can fly. It feels like it was an emergency landing.
Let me know what you think. Oh and I changed my watermark to a smaller one, if it bothers you, too bad:D
Please critique on the image, not the watermark, thank you.

    Troy:

Dramatic action, well timed. He is really putting the brakes on.

Your image is sharp, with perhaps a little loss of details in the whites on head.

The sky may be a bit oversaturated, but close.

I might consider cropping down about 1/2 of the free space above the bird.

thanks for changing your user name:D

    Cheers

Randy, I emailed once after I joined, no one helped me until few days ago.
I did not saturate the sky, after adjusting the black and white point, that is what it get.
I usually crop, then do black/white point, NR, then sharpening.

I will look at cropping again. Thanks.

    Troy:

Sorry we were slow to get the name straightened out.
Cropping obviously is a personal thing, but the to me the focus of the image is the bird and perch, and the expanse of sky above doesn't strengthen that story. Hopefully others will chime in on that point.

Randy, not a problem, gives me more free advertising time LOL.
Yes I agree with the cropping and I just went back and took off more sky, and pull the white back a bit more.
I must admit cropping is not my strength, still learning how to crop.

    Hi Troy:

Lovely action you captured here. Love the movement in the wing feathers and the outstretched talons. I think this picture would show up better at the allowable 1024 pixels on the long side. Whites look goo to me and I think we would see more detail if it were larger.

I would crop some off the top to give more emphasis to your subject and the action. Sky looks good to me based on my photos from this location. It's hard to believe our skies can be so gorgeous and glad we are actually beginning to see some blue skies again!

    Thanks for sharing.

In fact, Try, sorry to comment on the watermark, but it is in violation of guideline # 24.
I guess I should have done this in a PM, but since you brought it up...

Marina, thank you. It has been a cloudy winter for Florida. I agree with the cropping. ;)
Hope the chicks will be there soon.

I will just use a smaller one next time I post on here. Sorry, my bad.

Very nice landing pose, stretched wings , sharp and well exposed I do agree with comments that there is too much empty sky, would crop tighter.

    Hi Troy,

If this image were mine, I would hope to have captured more space beneath my subject. Giving him room to land. It looks like you exposed the image well and it's very sharp. The watermark is distracting. I don't care that it's not on the raw file, it's on the image I'm critiquing and is therefore completely relevant to the critique.

    Thanks so much for sharing,

Blake, thank you for stopping by. I will try that next time, I wonder how often do people shoot bird in flight in portrait mode. Would be fun to try sometimes.

You said include lower part more. It is just dead branch. That led me to think about making shoot BIF in portrait mode, including more on the bottom of the image.

Ohhh! As a vert! I see what you're saying. If you're interested in doing that, practice on Brown Pelicans as they're going to hit the water or banking. That's how I started doing vertical flight photography.

Thanks for the good idea. I never done it before and it makes sense, trying to fill the frame.
