In case anyone has ever wondered whether Sandhill Cranes have binocular vision. :) Photographed at Viera Wetlands last year. 40D, 500 f/4 + 1.4X, 1/640, f/6.3, ISO 400. Comments are welcome.

Even though it's a disallowed word on BPN I have to say WOW! I love this. It's really the way to portray a lanky bird like this and still show detail in the face. The BG is super and the overall look provided by the composition, colour and light are awesome.

A refreshing view of a bird that almost is always photographed from the side. I like how you captured the colors and size of his chest feathers. Accurate colors on his crown and is stare is hilarious.

Very fresh perspective, with great EXP, colors and compo. Big congrats!

Steve, there is nothing about this picture I don't like. I have taken many SHC pictures and never captured one with just special whimsical look. Your BG is gorgeous, your exposure and colors on the money. The few raised feathers really add something special. Well done, my friend.

The colors are truly excellent, and the stare is very amusing.
    Nicely done.

The title is exactly right. This one is mainly about eye contact! Well done.

Great colors, but that long neck is the next most striking feature. It which suggested an alternative crop to me. Not a better crop, but a different one.

Thanks David. I tend to like unconventional crops and your "bookmark" crop works well here, I think. :)

I love that goofy look. Nice and sharp, and good that the bill is sharp all the way to the tip. I also like how the bird really stands out from that soft background. Well done.
