here's another composition from sunday afternoon at anhinga trail. added contrast and cropped a little for composition. i wished i had this one in the viewfinder again for a do over. i composed it with the eye dead center. if i had it to do over, i would have used the focus lock to recompose with the eye in one of the rule of thirds intersections.

    D300, 300mm at f/6.3, 1/400s, ISO 640, +0.7EV

thanks for looking. comments and critiques much appreciated.

Agree on the other composition option but this is good too. I love pictures that illustrate beauty of birds and tend to show life at their eye level. You did both, strong image IMO!

I tried this crop and added 3 points of blacks to the neutrals in Selective colors. Hope you like.

If anything, I like the contrast of the re-post better (I think I also suggested enhancing the contrast in another thread). Tight crop give it more impact, too. Good base image nonetheless !

it's photoshop. when i size for web, it totally changes the tone and exposure. have no clue why. it didnt do this in the past and i havent changed any settings.

thanks for the reply. i tried to take my time with this one to make sure that it didnt happen again. back to the drawing board!!

A unique perspective on the cormorant. Great detail and a killer eye. I personally like the diagonal created by the neck and bill in the OP crop, although the repost works for me as well.

Great portrait H. I like the tight crop and the re post by Fabs.
Thanks for the tip Fabs.
