The white behind this bird is surf, not cloud. Pescadero, California.

I like the background and the rocks ! The bird though I think it could be a bit brighter. Sharpness and details look good to me. Composition-wise I may be tempted to crop the top just a bit.

Bill, Great detail and I love the BG. I agree with lightening the bird a tad. A little off the top works for me too.... Congrats!!

Lovely image. I'd be careful not to brighten the bird too much. Wouldn't want it getting lost in the background. Did you use Curves on this? A slight s-curve might make the bird "pop" off the background. I might crop a bit off the top, but I'd crop porportionately off a side or sides as well. I think you could put the bird on the 1/3 vertical with its head on or at least very near the upper intersect and maintain enough rock and negative space to keep the image interesting. Nice image.

I like the inclusion of the rock, lovely background and your bird looks sharp with lots of details. Another vote for lighten the bird (and maybe the rock) a bit.

Hi Bill did not see the exposure comp for this one, looks a bit under !

Btw for this image in specific, moving the camera up or down slightly will give you different exposure. Go down a bit and will be over, up a bit and will be under !! Under this circumstance best to go manual and will allow you compose as you want !!!!

Hill Bill - looks a tad dark on my screen as well - good advice from AL.
    Do like the colours.

I've lightened the bird just a bit. I had +2/3 stop exposure compensation set for this, but it clearly wasn't enough.
