I bought my wife some flowers for her birthday (and for me to shoot) and they had these little flowers that I liked. I shot this with my Tamron 60mm Macro and a 25mm extension tube. It was small and needed to get in close to fill the frame. Focused on the front petals and shot wide open. In this close and wide open gives a nice shallow DOF for a soft look. Light coming in from overhead gave the flower a glow.
Almost looks like a small african daisy, Mike. Beautiful and soft...it's what I love about floral! The light purples and the darker greens work beautifully together and the focus is right at the perfect point on the flower. I can almost smell it...
Hey Mike,
You know I usually don't like soft focus....unless done very well....which this is! Just super use of shallow DOF. I'm playing right now with the drops.....may have to go out and get some flowers B4 the rest of the snow comes in! That bit of well placed green is just terrific!
