On Saturday I spent a very enjoyable day shooting birds with fellow form member Bill Maroldo at Brazos Bend State Park, Texas. What a great place this is.
The Blue-winged Teals being very cooperative gave us a lot of excellent photo-ops.
5d Mk II, 300mm 2.8, 1.4TC,
ISO 1000, 1/1250, f5.6, manual exposure
slight crop, removed a small distracting speck in front of ducks, some adjustment of levels.
Love the exposure, the sharpness, the details, and the high key feeling. Also like how the in focus teal is drinking the water, give me the feeling of goofing off during a marching :D
Nice habitat shot. At close distances when some overlap or are OOF it can be a tad distracting (mostly feel here). I enjoy the high-key look as noted above and love the species. Picture has a nice feel and is presented well.

Hi Joe Really nice high key look and exposure right on the money. Would have rather have only one duck or two with similar poses, difficult having all within the dof. For more than one would keep focus on the closer duck !!
Good job Joe...looks kind of familiar!
First of all, on these high key images I'd go ahead in give it a 1 pixel wide black border, the light color tends to blend into web page background color.
Good exposure, detail, and composition, though a small clock-wise rotation might be in order. Did well at ISO 1000.
I like the three birds, and you managed to get all the heads in view, but in this situation I think you have two choices. Either get them all in focus, with F9 or something like that(up the ISO if you have to) or get a sort of out-of focus gradient, which would mean dropping the Fstop. In other words, the front bird sharp focus, the next bird medium blur, last bird blurred. Pretty hard to get right in camera, but it establishes a good 3D depth effect.
I had a great time too Joe! regards~Bill
