    A black mamba on a thurnbush in the rain. Central Kalahari Game Reserve, Deception Valley, Botswana.

    The black mamba (dendroaspis polylepis) is a snake to be afraid of. It is one of the deadliest snakes in the world and on top of that it is highly aggressive and can attack without any provocation, it is very fast and is also the largest venomous snake in Afrika! Glad I made this shot from my car:D.

    :agree about not getting to close ..i will only shoot them with a 600mm:) they really scare me.......

    When I first saw the image, I wondered how close you were. A nice image but not a snake to irritate. :D

    I like the detail on the head and the thorns add a feeling of "There's somethng I should fear about this guy" to the pic.
