The shyness is very well portrayed here Harshad with a lovely inquisitive head turn, with the f/2.8 being put to good use here. Nice detail and colour in the fur also.

It goes without saying that I have never seen this before, apart from documentaries.

It is a strange looking antelope, very stocky with relatively small head.

Manas is not on the normal tourist routes but looks very interesting, how did you get there?

    BTW Beautiful image

Have you by any chance got any four-horned antelope?

Manas is extremely beautifl NP and we shoot many lifers there. Golden Langoor , capped langoor and many birds. Manas was planned for golden langoor and we were quite lucky to shoot them for long sessions and at our will. You can get clouded leopard there if you are extremely Lucky. Manas can be approached from Guwahati by road

this is a beautiful shot, just i felt it will look good in horizontal crop. and ken, this is not antelope but a deer. and india has close to 9 speci of deers and 5 speci of antelope. the main difference in them is that every year deers drop their antlers and deers have branched antlers, where as antelope dont.

I would have loved to shoot this horizontal but surprisingly this fellow came so close, This is FF at 300mm, original vert.

Harshad, liked the pose and the look on the deer's face. I am thinking it would have fit in horizontal too...but it would have been definitely very tight. Awesome sharpness and DOF.

Beautiful image of an interesting subject. Gotta love the 2.8 big guns (I love my 400). Exposure and detail are right on. TFS

Lovely light and colours Harshad, and the inquisitive look puts this over the top for me. Well captured.

Nice image Harsha and as mentioned very sharp for 1/80th. Steady hands indeed.

Horizontal ( if it fitted ) would get my vote.

    Hi Harshad,
I haven't seen one of these B4 either so this is a treat. Yeah I would also prefer a horizontal......but since I like tight crops the vert works just fine for me! Excellent job with the slow SS and technique!

What a unique looking animal. Looks like the ears were added as an afterthought :) Really nice colors and facial markings.

Silly me I should have known better, I can only blame my rush to respond to this wonderful image.
