Default "display AF points" in DPP

I seem to be having trouble finding the command to display the AF points in DPP. I have completed all tasks as described here:

in DPP choose fit to windows or fit to screen to fit the entire image on your screen, then click "display AF points" to see the active sensor

But I can not see where you 'display AF points'. I'm sure it is right under my nose!

    Thanks! Gail in Arkansas

I double click on an image to open it up in a large window of its own. Then I go into the View menu and select AF point. I get an overlay of the AF grid on the image with the active AF point(s) depicted in red.

Default "display AF points" in DPP

I did all that and I get the grid but I see no command in the view menu for selecting the AF points and I see no AF points in red. I've pulled up different photos and still no command for AF points.

Do you see any AF points at all or you just don't see any red point? If there is no red point it means that the camera failed to lock the focus.

You can also double click on the photo to open in a new window then right click and choose "display AF points" or press Alt+L as shown below, you must have DPP 3.4 or newer to be able to see AF points.

Okay...my version is 3.1.0.0 (2004 - 2007). The command is not there, on my version. The shortcut ALT R does not work, so my older version must not have that command.

Yes, older version doesn't have this feature.

My computer had a media card drive that recently bit the dust. I never used DPP and now have to rely on it. My media card drive would just immediately open things into PS Bridge. I've had my 40D for over 4 years, I just never used the DPP until now. Sorry for all the confusion and thanks for your patience.

I have 3.7.2.0 and some show red points and other don't. I tried testing tonight and the camera beeped and the focus point flashed red, but still some of the points were not red.

Not sure about what you're saying(?) only the point that was active will be shown in red.

The camera beeped and the active point flashed red indicating focus was acquired, but no points show red in DPP.

Are you using one shot or Servo Don? The reason I ask is that I always use AI servo with focussing via the AF-on button and if you release the button and then take the shot then there will not be a active focus point.

I am setup the same way, so that explains why no points are red. It also explains why in some photos I see the active point and it others I don't. If I have the button pushed tracking a moving object then the point is active. On a static subject where I have released the button, no active points are indicated in red.

    Thanks Roy and arash.
