    Default Reddish Egret Merritt Island

I took this shot last week at Merritt Island.
In a hurry I grabbed the shot and didn't check my shutter speed.
It is remarkable that it was good as it was at 1/100.

    Mark1 DSII
    500 F4 EX TC2x
    ISO 400
    f8
    1/100

I darkened the background to get rid of the overexposed highlights of the water.

Love the concentrated look on the face, the image looks sharp with good details, and lovely color on the bill too. Might decenter the bird and move it more to the right.

Nice technique for 2X/TC. Tight at bottom IMO, needs room for virtual feet. I am alright with the HA since he is looking for food and in survival mode - nice colors. ISO 800 might have been an option to gain a stop of light as well.

Amazing colours - like the low shooting angle.
Does feel a little tight at t he bottom and on the LHS.
Agree ISO 800 could have been a option.

    Hi Gary

You did great making a sharp image with the converter at that low shutter speed !! Always would try raising the ISO and worrying about noise later but this time you nailed it !!!

The color of the bill is over what we normally see these birds, need to reduce saturation. For the feathers on the body is a tough situation since the bird is back lit !! Opening and lightening increase noise and give the feathers a strange look !! ... if you have the room might give some all around !!

I think the wing color is due to having to add some S&H. However the bill is pretty close
to what it was. I usually don't add saturation but some vibrance.

As I look at the following shot I think the sun was shining right through the beak adding
a little more color than normal.

Here is another one for the set which has no vibrance, saturation or S&H. Only contrast
    crop and sharpen.

Thanks to all of you for commenting and offering welcome advice.
