    Default Floating Mallard

I liked this image for a few reasons, I liked the back light and the sense of floating on the air like a angel, I also liked the birch tree background. I would love your thoughts on the image. Ron

Hey Ron, interesting image. I like the duck's placement within the frame. I'm personally not a huge fan of this type of backlighting...but many people do like this. I can see why you like it. Although the OOF tree at left does not bother me too much, it's branch extending to the duck is bothersome and its removal would be an option to explore. I do like the "incoming for a landing" pose and the darkish BG.

    Ron:

I like the composition, with the tree balancing out the bird, the dramatic blue background, sharpness.

I agree with Daniel about removing the branch that spears the bird. I might also try to lighten the birds face a bit. Subtle of course, but because the undersides of the wings are well lit (snow reflection?), I think it would look OK to bring the face up a bit.

    Good to see you posting.

    Cheers

    Randy

I agree with Daniel and Randy on the points they made. I would try to open the shadows on the face for sure. I like the postion of the wings in the "angel" like form.:)
