    Great Blue in typical habitat on the Skagit Flats. I liked the natural setting and tangle of branches as well as his/her alert look. I purposely did no cloning - I wanted to represent this as I saw it.

    Terry,

    Did you notice you had enough speed to bring down ISO to 400. It would have avoided noise to some extent.

    Hi Sid, Thanks. Yes, I did note that. Since I hand hold most shots with the 400 5.6L (no IS), I try to stay above 1/500s, thus the higher ISO in the dim light conditions.

    Very lovely environmental image Terry with excellent detal in the GBH and I very much like the excellent eye contact you captured here, Thanks for sharing.

    Thanks very much, Judy. I enjoy trying to capture the mood and setting as well as the bird. Since we often have very dim light here, I have ordered a speedlight 580EX II and will couple that with Art's flash extender. It will be fun to see what improvements that will bring.
