    Default White-throated Sparrow

Another backyard bird, taken out of my back door. Applied a slight Gaussian blur to the bg since f/9 got me more detail in the nearby bush than I wanted. Also removed some blobs of snow on the bush. Very minor levels and curves adjustments. About a 50% crop. C&C always appreciated.

Was it natural light? The lighting is great, with the darker background. Or did you pull that down as you blurred it?

Ferguson, thanks for looking. Lighting was natural, on a cloudy bright day at around 11:00 am, light over my left shoulder and snow cover on the ground providing reflected uplight. I did not darken the bush, although it always seems to absorb a lot of light.

Hi Bill That is real good light for the little bird, particularly the one reflection of the ground !!! Might play around with the corners darkening a bit to focus all attention in the center !!!

... not sure if they will cooperate but might try setting up a perch for them !!!

    Hi Bill.

Love the little sparrows! I like how he stands out from the bg, which is a tad busy but doesn't bother me that much. Nice pose, perch, and eye contact! The even light works well here too.

Thanks Alfred. Good idea to darken the corners - esp the upper left - which might help. He's actually sitting on a branch that I stuck into the snow for his benefit. I've thought about trying to find a more attractive branch

Great shot Bill. Snow sure has been a bummer this year hasn't it.

Nice HA and light Bill, held up well for a large crop. Wouldn't mind the stick not going through the bird, but all in all I think it is VWD.
