Lovely bird and BG but the bird lacks detail especially in the blacks. Would a fill flash be beneficial here?

That is a stunning bird! However the image is very dark on my screen and most of the detail that is available in the image is not showing through. I wonder whether the screen on the computer you used is set a bit too bright? When I tried S&H adjustments the image came up very nicely with excellent detail and sharpness. Maybe have another go, the shot is too good to spoil :)

I think exactly the same way Leandro... Beautiful bird, nice composition, just too dark... You should take a second shot at it!:)

The image presented requires a scroll to see in its entirety. That's unfortunate. The colors and contrast are stunning although the black would benefit with a little lightening and the red doesn't seem natural.

Beautiful bird, good eye contact and BG, too. I agree on lightening it a bit and I would give it more room at the bottom as the tail looks clipped. As for the overexposed reds, you could have a look at this tutorial: http://www.birdphotographers.net/for...ad.php?t=29869

    Keep them coming!

Way cool looking bird!! I agree about the darkness of the image, and wish you had pointed your lens down a bit for added space at bottom. A degree or two better head turn our way would have been just too good!!:)

The "reds" Axel mentions thread is worth reading...there is also one on yellows in the same forum that could pique your interest...(although not applicable to this image).
