Love the diagonal lines set up by the background and the sands. The birds are great - how did you convince them to pose for you?:p
I like the perspective of the image. Also, textures of sand and feathers (the softness of the whites) very nicely done.

One of your best. The pano crop and great diagonal lines show your artistic side. Love everything about it.

Nice teamwork! Although I like the diagonal of the blue in the upper right, I think it would be interesting to see this with it removed (via a tighter crop or cloning).

This shot doesn't appeal to me. There is too much space above the birds lost. I recommend rotating and crop panoramic.

    Grace:

A lovely image, good techs, pose etc. I stared at it for awhile, thinking about the composition and lines.
I like the balancing wedges of foreground beach, and blue sky. Before I read Bob's comment, my thought was, if the sky wedge was a bit large, more equal in size, and thus eliminated a bit of the sand above the birds, that it would be even stronger. I think that area is what bothers Bob, and I do get the same impression.

If you had a frame shot even a bit lower, that might have helped with that issue, or purely in the interest of learning, you might remove a band of sand from above them, and see what you think.

    Thanks for sharing!

I think what attracted me to the image is that it wasn't the normal crop that everyone would do. I like the diagonal aspect and I think that may be lost if the sky portion was larger - making it more stripe than line.

Interesting aspect about photography - what appeals to one person may not to the next.

Now there is a rare sight, not one stationary sanderling but three all in a row! Although the blue sky / water is mirroring the angle of the beach I am not sure it adding much to composition as there feels like there is too much space above the birds

    Cheers

Thanks so much to all who weighed in on this photo. I shared it with you all as I value all opinions. While I mostly like it myself, I am not totally convinced yet either and I have looked at it many ways and for a long time, (over a year) but keep coming back to this. I will add that for some reason it looks better bigger.

I love the crop Grace :)

Only issue I have is that the wights look somewhat hot on my end.

One of my favs too... If it were mine I would have maybe eliminated the blue or increased it some... well worth going back to and refining.

I like the angles and the lines, I would want more blue - but what I think is giving me a disconnect with this image is that their legs are giving it away thats 100% camera tilt and not them on a hill or a tilted shore.

Love the colors and the whites seem fine over here.
