    Here goes:

Start with a macro image of a rose. Lighten, brighten, and desaturate a bit in PS. Add Fractalius - sketch 5 - but add saturation in so a hint of the color comes back through. Drop kick an orton effect on top of that. Now tweak the colors with a violet photo filter at 20%. Use the smudge, blur and sharpen tools along different petal edges.

Now, did I leave anything out of the stew pot? ;)

    Canon 40D, EF 100mm & extention tube (20mm if I remember correctly.)
    F5.6 @ 1/10th, ISO 800, pop-up flash with a diffuser.

Thanks for the detailed explanation, hard to keep track when we are in the creative mode :)

Soft, delicate and attractive. Well done, Jules.

    Nice image and application, Jules.

I like it but something draws me stangely. I might have had the edge of the petal in the UL area coming out of the ULC. Not sure, but I think it might help. Again, I like what you did. Just not sure what it is that I don't see there.

Looks like a beautiful abstract to me. Love the diagonals and general dreamy feel to this. Nice Jules.
