Of course, this picture would have done better without the mud spit in the background, but otherwise it's a really good shot with a good exposure and reflection.
joe thanks for the suggestions as i had expected that too but unfortunately waders are too shy here at my location and i was lying down in edge of water body to wait them come to me based on the light angle in early morning. that dry patch was the only thing that had attracted the waders to dry them up for sometime and start wading arround nearby ..
Hi Mital,
Beutiful light and exposure. Very nice pose also. I nromally don't like to start debates.....but did you consider going a bit higher to avoid the land mass? I know that is not the generally accepted practice here......but when I find land masses that interfere with the BG.....I opt for a slightly higher vantage to eliminate it. I also do realize that if you moved up......the bird would have spooked....so tough call there. This is still a very nice image.....just trying to bring some other viewpoints to the table!
Looks like it is going through a molt - very neat plumage recorded. I like the water drops falling. Yes, too bad about the large mud bank in the BG. Going higher to clear it would have likely required you to stand way high. Another option would have been to go so low that your camera bottom and your cheek would be touching the mud:), and opening up the aperture to render it even more blurry. It may be an illusion, but it looks like the image could use an ever so slight CCW roation?
Roman made a very point about shooting angle. Although low is often more intimate, if if comes at the price of background problems, it may not be the best choice. Reflections also tend to be stronger, more distinct at a higher shooting angle. It also depends on the lens and focal length.
With the 80-400, I know there is a real push to go with smaller f/stop for better image quality. I have that lens also, and find its sweet spot at around f/8. It might have been interesting to have shot a series with varying f stops, to see how the background varied, vs. image quality.
I def. think you could tweak the contrast and saturation of the mud layer to make it less noticeable.
Like the drops, by the way.
Randy
PS: Daniel and I were typing at the same time, sorry for the duplicate thoughts.
thanks daniel for the suggestion i would be giving a try this weekend if i get time to go to same location. and i am really thankful for those suggestions you and Roman gave a really new thought process i really need to check for :)
Mital, this is so beautiful in that golden light, nice reflection and I like the diagonal line of green in bg. I'm happy for you to have had a second chance with such a good result.
Mital, I much prefer the second image...such beautiful colours in the water and BG, and nothing to distract. Even the sandpiper's pose is better and it seems more relaxed.
Mital, lovely soft light, and just love the colours. This is nice and sharp, and overall, well exposed. I like the falling droplets, and agree with Dan, a very slight CCW rotation is needed.
Hi Mital, I like them both, more detail in the 1st, but the 2nd one has a relaxed feel to it. HA, sharpness and detail in 1st image hard to beat.
cheers
