Considering the difficult light conditions, this has come out very well, with good detail. The close crop is OK with me.

    Hey Marc,
Not easy to pull off a nice image in mixed light......but where it falls on the lioness face is very effective! Nice job making an excellent image with a bit of different lighting!

I too like the shadow and light sides of the face - the distribution works well - like classic portrait lighting.

Excellent crop choice. I love the play of light, highlights controlled well to full range of shadows. Very well done. TFS

Very nicely detailed portrait. The split lighting on the face looks very natural. BG colors look good too. SHe'd be very happy with this portrait of herself :).

Marc, brilliant detail, and just love the intense stare, and head turn. Colours look natural, and what a great BG too. Well captured.

I like this iamge. Making the left side darker would have made it look more like the portrait lighting. I like the composition and expression. Thanks for sharing.

Wonderful sad mood captured here. I agree with the comment that the lighting, difficult as it is, enhances the mood.

Your right about her mood Ed, as she had been continually mating with a persistent male for a lengthy 6 days and was getting desperate for a feed!
