Thanks to Doug Brown and Jim Neiger, I'm beginning to feel more confident at getting the right exposure and capturing BIF images that meet my expectations. Thanks for looking; C&C encouraged and greatly appreciated.

Hey Katie, good to see you in Avian. Very nice wing position, a little tight in the right (easy to add canvas).
It does not look critically sharp to me, you could have gone f5.6 and ISO 1000 on the 1d3 for extra s/s, the key to sharp images when hand holding.

Nice Katie. I like the sharpness and composition and agree with Fabs that some room at the right would be good. The eye looks a bit funky to me and maybe has suffered from a bit too much lightening and/or sharpening.

Good to see you posting on the 'big board' Katie! You're really doing well with your hand held flight images from what I can see. I agree with the others about adding a bit of canvas on the right. Sharpness looks good on my monitor, although the eye seems to be a little too sharp for the rest of the head. See you in a couple of weeks! :)

    Hey Katie,
Shaprness already covered......even I would like a hair more canvas on the right (rare)....although I may be tempted to take a bit off the bottom instead....so the gull was rising. Try it with the browser to see what I mean. Nice job overall!

Here's the repost; I added canvas on the right, sharpened a bit more and backed off on the eye. Better?

Thank you all for your help.

The eye looks more natural but the bird looks oversharpened to me. :)
