For the 300mm f2.8, TC and body, I opt for lowepro AW 600. It's pretty long, but I can put everything ready to use in in the car if something happen suddenly in backcountry road (body and tc on Lens with hood open). This bag come with a nice adjustable harness and a side strap. I trow away the harness and only keep the side strap, so the size are more compact. for more additional stuff, I add the lens in lens bag, strap to the side. I ended with a very modulable system, and if I need a harness for long trail hiking, I just put it back.
sorry for my english, i'm french Canadian.

I use a lowepro computrekker II (I think I got the name right) for 300 f/2.8 + 70-200, shorter lenses, two bodies, TCs, laptop and accessories. US carry-on legal, and this outfit has been to Tanzania too. If you travel really small airplanes, the overhead bins are too small so it won't fit.
I am using Kata HB 207 back pack for 300 f 2.8, 2 bodies, 200 micro, 80-200 and few wides. This is large enough to take in most of the stuff you may need on a trip. I can fit in 600mm f4 + 2 Bodies and few small pime wide lenses in this bag. It is a tight fit for airline OH cabinet.
You can check their smaller one HB 205 for your use. Biggest advantage over Lowepro is that Kata is much lighter in weight and equally durable, mine is 2yrs old now and every thing is intact.
