My first posting so looking for some honest (but Gentle :) ) critique from some of the experts.
This is a heavy crop so there is plenty off room for looser framing if required.
    7D + 300/2.8 + 2x tc.
    ISO 400, f8, 1/400 sec manual metering.
Feisol CF tripod and BWG - HD II gimbal head.
Converted in DPP and finished processing in CS4 (levels, selective Noise Ninja, selective sharpening).
Hope I have followed the posting guidelines OK - Thanks in advance.

Hi Roy - very nice image - bg is great, looking back pose is good, I like the overall composition even though I am not keen on barbed wire. You might want to see what happens when you sharpen the bird (and only the bird) just a tad - I tried USM at 50%, radius = 1 and thought it looked a bit better. I also might try sharpening the eye just another tad.:)
    Wonderful first bpn image
    Cheers and welcome

I like the wind blown feathers and pose. Nice BG and HA as well.
Detail and sharpness look good to me.

I'm not one of the "experts", but I sure like your first post. i like a pose that shows off the back feathers, as this one does. Perhaps just a very very little bit of sharpening would be good.

Hi Roy - A big warm welcome to the BPN Family - nice first post.
A tad more sharpening on the bird only for my tastes - Good Ha and eye contact - exposure looks good and BG is very nice.
Just watch your shutter speed with that focal length - general rule of thumb is 1 over the focal length as a minimum.
Lots to like here and looking forward to seeing more :)

Thanks for the feedback folks - I take on board the possible need for a tad more sharpening on the bird.

Lance: re the focal length/shutter speed rule, is this still applicable when using a good tripod and head, I always understood it to mean when hand-holding.

    Thanks again.
