    A 15-year old from London!

    Hi all,

My name is Oscar Dewhurst and I am a 15-year-old wildlife photographer living in London. I have been a birdwatcher since 2005, taking up digiscoping in 2006. In March 2008, I finally took the plunge and bought a Nikon D60 and Sigma 50-500mm f4-6.3 lens. Although a great camera, I wanted a faster frame rate, and better ISO capabilities, as well as the video, so bought a Nikon D300s in September 2009 just before my sfari trip to South Africa. I reached the finals in the Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition in 2009, and am hoping to improve this year!

As I live in London, there are limited areas which are good for wildlife, but I regularly visit the London Wetland Centre, as well as Richmond Park. I now spend as much of my spare time as I can photographig wildlife.

I can't wait to get involved here!

    Thanks,

    Oscar :)

Welcome, Oscar! The D300 is a good choice for wildlife photography. Feel free to post the image that reached the finals, it would be great to see.

    Welcome!
You'd be surprised how many opportunities you have in London for wildlife and bird photography. When I visit I always take the remains of my breakfast to St James Park for the birds, amazing variety of ducks and a great area to photograph... And that's just the tip of the iceberg. Look forward to seeing some of your images!!
