    Default Patient White Throat

The White Throat Sparrows sat around waiting patiently while my wife was feeding the Chickadees. They apparently had learned to be patient and the remaining food would be cast upon the snow for them to feast on.

Question: I added the vignette because, quite frankly, I felt like it! I think it just sets off the bird that much more. Since it doesn't really affect the bird, I assume it is still ok to post in Avian. Yes? No?

Nice pose and sharpness, Ed. I like the colour of the perch and plumage. I don't think your vignette precludes posting in Avian. I often use a a slight corner burn to create a vignette to bring the eye in toward the subject. In this case I think I might back if off a fair bit and feather it more - the lower right corner especially is cutting into the perch and looking more obvious than it could. I think the secret is to use it without it appearing too obvious.

Thanks Tony. That LR corner is a problem no matter what I do short of a major clone job. There is an oof branch transecting that corner. naked, it looks out of place. With the vignette, it requires a vignette larger than I would like to sort of cover it. I may have to bite the bullet and do the clone job.

    Hi Ed,
I'm not sold on the vignette here. When I opened your image I immediately began looking at your treatment instead of your subject. The other thing, and it's not your fault, but that is not the best looking sparrow and the perch sure is messy. If you see a pattern with their behavior, maybe try and set up a nice little spot for them to hang out while they wait for their handout.
